Roxbury Municipal Court

Roxbury NJ Criminal Defense Lawyers

Roxbury Township, with a dense population, two shopping malls, and five major roadways (Interstate 80, US Route 46, US Route 206, Route 10 and Route 183), is one of the most heavily policed areas in Morris County. This is not just conjecture, the numbers support it. With 549 indictable crimes, 969 disorderly persons and petty disorderly persons offenses, 177 DWIs, and 6,949 traffic violations, Roxbury Township law enforcement has issued about 9,000 criminal and traffic tickets in the 365 day span between July 2012 and June 2103. That is almost 25 charges filed a day! It seems almost inevitable that you or a loved one will be facing criminal or traffic charges at some point down the road.

The Law Offices of John Marshall has two offices located in Morris County, each equipped to handle any of your concerns. Roxbury Township Municipal Court deals with several different types of offenses within its jurisdiction. Some of these offenses include traffic and motor vehicle violations, disorderly and petty disorderly offenses, certain penalty enforcement actions, fish and game violations and municipal ordinance violations.

Charges that are indictable, those offenses that are more serious, are sent to the Prosecutor’s Office in the Morris County Superior Court for review. These types of cases may be downgraded and remanded back to Roxbury Municipal Court; if not they are presented to a Grand Jury in Superior Court for an indictment.

Roxbury Township Municipal Court has a Community Dispute Resolution Committee (CDRC). This Committee handles complaints referred to them in an attempt to resolve matters without the need to appear before the Judge for a formal trial.
